In the Middle School Art class we finished our version of the "Lucy's Psychiatric Help Stand" from the cartoon Charlie Brown Christmas.  I found this on Pinterest and it made me laugh.   Nicely done , but I like the one our kids made better.  :)

Auction Art Work Contest Due Dec 7th!

See my posting on this blog earlier in November for ideas for the Roaring 20's theme! The Art Work for the Auction Booklet is due Dec 7th in the school office.  Please see me for any help you might need and if you are in my Middle School Art Class please let me see your entry before you turn it in to the office for your 5 extra credit points.  Thank you Ms. Sarah  P.S  I will be in my classroom Friday after school doing daycare if you want help.

Kinder Nativity & Making the Play Sets

This week the Kindergarten made the Nativity Scene all on their own.  Mrs. T does this every year and it is priceless.  Each student pulls an assigned character out of a bowl and then draws it totally on their own.  The collection of all their drawings is too cute!  It is on the bulletin board in the Sky Room closest to the kitchen.  This week with my Art time we have made handprint art.  Three upside down hands become the three camels for the Three Wise Men , and a footprint becomes......................well that will have to be a surprise.  If your child's foot was a weird color.....this is why.  I tried washing them the best I could not to stain any socks.  The girls had to take off tights and put them totally back on again.  I hope you enjoy as i start to display their work.  I try to make things you will keep and get out with your Christmas decor , they are only in Kindergarten once and it goes by sooooooo quickly.

I was so happy to have Middle School Art Class this week!  With half days and Veterans day practice we haven't had class in a month!  This last Wednesday in class we built some of the props needed for the Charlie Brown Christmas Play.  Remember to mark it on your calendars December 15th 3:00 in the Sky Room.  All the students will sing Christmas songs, and the middle school students are acting in the play.  It should be very heart felt and a nice way for all to celebrate the season.  Happy Birthday Jesus!

Thanksgiving Ideas and Pictures

Thankful Week!

Remember that we have half days at school Wednesday , Thursday, and Friday.  The students get out of school at NOON.  There is after school care available, see school office to sign up for it.

This week and next I am sorry to say I don't have Middle School Art because of the half days.

This week in Kindergarten I have enjoyed making Pinecone Feather Turkeys with students.

This Saturday is BINGO at 6:30.  This Bingo night is always great fun.........I won a turkey for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago.  Preparing a "free" turkey you have won is fun!

We are traveling over the Thanksgiving week and will not see you all next week at school.  Have a wonderful and safe holiday.  We have so much to be thankful for and at the top of my list is St. Anne School.  Happy Thanksgiving.

No School Today*****Up Coming Busy Week

Happy Friday Off Everyone.   Next week is a busy one for all of us at St. Anne School

Monday is the Power Pledger Field Trip to the Food Bank and Food Bank Farm.  Casablanca is providing a FREE lunch to all 45 of you !  Great job!  The lunch provided is a bean, rice and cheese burrito with a side of tadder tots and apple juice.  We have asked that all the students going on the field trip bring a canned food item to donate to the Food Bank.  ( This is a different canned food item needed from the Student Council Canned Food Drive that starts next week)  The Tour Director of the Food Bank is going to have the students stack up all the donations of food on his huge scale and based on the weight tell the students how many people the food will feed and for how long.  Great visual and lesson for the students to experience.  Then after the Food Bank we travel to Upper River Road to their farm and get to see first hand how they grow and harvest the food.  We will also see that they have 9 bee hives that are all from saved displaced bees from our area.  Bee hive #8 was saved from my yard !!!!!!  Great story.  Last Spring I had a swarm of bees in my yard and Mrs. T gave me the name of this great man that collects them and relocates them to the Food Bank Farm.  The students will return back to school right before 3.  This field trip does NOT require them to wear their dress uniform.  Just regular Monday school attire please.  It might rain and blue pants, red school t-shirt and red school hooded sweat shirt would be ideal.  Thank you

Thursday after school 3:15ish I have asked my 5th -8th graders to join me (under their parents' care) to Roe Motors to set up our Annual Scarecrow Contest Entry.  A big THANK YOU to Mr. Beck and his family for building the wood structure/frame and hauling it to Roe Motors for us.  We came up with a great theme and the students are excited to get it up.  Check us out after Thursday night.  It will be judged Friday at 5:30.

Jog-a-thon is around the corner and we now have sign up sheets up for your students classroom section at the GPHS track.  We need awnings, tarps, healthy snacks, card tables/chairs and a camping cot for the First Aid station.  The students will be given red 20 year anniversary water bottles full of water at the event!

Happy Weekend!  Ms. Sarah

Kinder Families

Happy Friday To You All.  Please review the two teacher notes that went home today.  My note explains that we will start sharing in class daily.  Your student has a day he or she has been assigned to weekly.  I made suggestions for items to bring and a few not to bring. :) Our library day is Friday.  All Kinders took home a library book today.  It is due back in class by next Friday in order for them to be able to check out another book.  Next Friday I will also send home the blankets and pillows to be washed or the weekend.  Put on your calendar for next week that Mrs. T and I are having Kindergarten night in the classroom THURSDAY at 6:30 PM.  Just for parents ( no children ) or one parent to come to.  See the red sheet sent home today for all the details.  Thank you and have a wonderful weekend with your ANGELS!  I will be spending time at the ALL CITY YARD SALE in JACKSONVILLE !  Sooooo much fun.

5th and 8th grade ART homework

Hello Students and Parents!  I really enjoyed having ART class yesterday.  So here is the simple reminder of what to work on during the week and have to turn in next Wednesday:

1.  The Art contest drawing ideas for the "Prayers of Vocations" theme.  Sketches and written ideas of what you want to draw in class to start your project.  What media do you want to use: crayons, markers, or pencil , or all of the above.  Which direction will your paper be?  What do you need help drawing?  Remember we are going to advance from stick figures and I am in class to help you with your skills.

2.  What are your ideas for our Scarecrow Contest.  We mentioned our plans in class, please come with your ideas written or drawn out.  Please ask your parents about materials from home you might want to donate to help in our building efforts and ask around if anyone has grown several baby pumpkins we might have.  We will brain storm and vote on our final project plans in two weeks.

3. Fifth graders..............start thinking of a Christmas card theme for another contest I have for only you.  Thank you. ( bright colors and simple card design ideas.)

4. Remember always bring your Glossary of ART Vocabulary and a pencil to class.
